a lot many good things more....

These are some of the things that my parents made sure i knew and learnt(of course apart from the maths and physics).
It was never forced on me, but they do say that watching and learning is the best way!!Most of it i just picked up from them....
So this is for u guys, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I AM WHAT I AM BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS!!!
- to take my responsibilities seriously, however small it maybe
- to be happy with whatever u have cos many people have a lot less
- stick to your limits
- always feel u r the luckiest person, then u'll never want for more
- be able to stand on your own two feet
- be a giving, kind soul
- don't be selfish, greedy and unhappy
- don't be too materialistic and always want for more(of course professionally u should!!)
- to accept life as it is, cos it can't be changed too much!
- to love all the people around you, atleast try not to hate them too much
- to forgive yourself for mistakes made, u always always have a second chance
- forgive others, it makes u a better person
- work for what u want, there is a sweet satisfaction in that!!
- never take things/people for granted
- always have respect for people older/younger to u(very cliche, but really needed)/friends/peers/collegues/everybody
- stick to your principles, it will help u eventually, even if u get kicked in the butt a few times...
- start ur day with a good morning to ur loved ones n end it with a good night(i follow that each day of my life!!)
- love people to be loved
- compromises need to be made if u wanna b happy
- education comes in all forms, not only from books
- be self sufficient
- never bend the rules, use the straight path to success
- success is not all about money, there is a lot more to life;)

These are a few of them which i remembered, the rest are there at the back of my mind, stored in some lil corner which i will fish out one fine day, am sure...:)

LOVE U MA AND POPS..... ALWAYS..AND FOREVER....

let me...

One of my closest friend...has asked me to do a post on the people I'm judgmental about. So here goes...

1. People who think that only their ideas matter and who refuse to listen to anyone else.

2. People who judge only on appearances, before knowing all the facts or accepting that there might be reasons for the way things appear.
3. People who lie for no rhyme or reason, and make you wonder if and when, do they ever tell the truth!!
4. People with no conscience- the backstabbers parading as friends.
5. People who seem to have no spine or mind of their own and sway according to others...

6. People who are constantly finding faults in other people and their behavior  (I wonder if this post makes me one of them!)
7. People who behave with no common courtesy or politeness to strangers or worse, even with the people they know.

Hmm...I probably am judgmental about many more things, but I think I should stop here. Thinking of unpleasant things is not really the best thing to do in the morning. So adios for now and have a good weekend, people!

lil abt me....

Today i thought of writing some random things about myself...

1. I've always dreamnt of having a nice little house which had pink and blue walls...

2. I wanted to become an air hostess when i was a kid, fascinated by the dress those pretty ladies wore. As i grew i wanted to become an ips officer because my dad kept telling i am a strong girl and i should fight for the good. Later i wanted to become a doctor, an author, own a cafe, etc etc. the list kept growing until one day i realized what i really wanna do and what i am really worth....

3. I like reading books more than anything else in the world (I'm sure that would have been easily guessed). I once didn't study for an exam scheduled the next day simply bcoz I hadn't finished the book I was reading. And if you're curious- yes, I did manage to study after I finally finished the book and passed the exam too!

4. I find it difficult to make small talks and even more difficult to tell the small lies that people make at parties/ occasions. It's quite difficult for me to talk to someone I don't like or reply to a question I don't like, so most of the time I make do with a smile and just pray for deliverance soon. So if I talk to you a lot, that means I really like you :) else i prefer staying away.

5. I like going to places which are quiet and not so popular with the tourist crowd. I'd rather be alone on a small secluded beach than with hundred others on a large busy one.

6. People often compliment me on my smile and my laugh. I wish growing up didn't mean losing the ability to laugh as often as I once did.

7. I want to go bungee jumping at least once in my lifetime. I'm sure I'd probably have my heart in my mouth...but i do wanna try :D

8. I was a green belt in karate in school , though sometimes I wonder if my instructor passed me only out of pity. The pity was probably both towards me and my brother- he was equally bad and i was the one been beaten up by my seniors during practice.

9. I find it most difficult to say NO sometimes to some people. Maybe i dont want to hurt them or maybe because i think too much....

happiness comes in tiny packages :)

Yesterday was fun !!  Spent few hours with chechy and her adorable kid!! The 11 month old angel... makes me soo happy!! The minute he sees me...he is over exited and is smiling with his bugs bunny teeth and you just wanna go..grab him...and cuddle him. Kids are soo innocent and pure at heart. No negativity in them. They dont know jealousy, selfishness, lies, competition, nothing!! Sometimes i feel...childhood was amazing! Can give anything to go back to childhood days!

my glass paintings

Though i am not professionally trained...glass painting is something which i really like trying! You can see my amateur touch in the paintings...but i guess...its worth a try!!

why so....

I read this article, http://shine.yahoo.com/work-money/9-things-never-working-moms-224100768.html  which appears to address many of the insensitive questions that mothers in general face very often.
What really struck a chord the most was this comment by someone called Chenome:
"I have been both a working mom and a stay at home mom and have been insulted in both capacities. There’s always going to be someone questioning what you do or trying to feel better about themselves by putting you down. Do what you have and can do and don’t bother about what other people have to say."
So true!

finally...

Finally, finally I brought myself a copy of “ Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.”
I have been planning to buy this book forever, everytime I thought of buying it, I either did not find the book or forgot about it once I entered the book store:):)
and finally I , managed to pick it up at a roadside seller!!
I have read this book about 2 times already...the first time being when I was 18..and frankly the book dint make much sense to me then( guess i was a typical dumb teenager hehehe)..now that I have read it 2 times after that and every time I read this book, it makes a little more sense to me:):)
Recommend this book to everyone, it is definitely worth the money.

Qutoes from the book----

-"Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do."
-"I decided I'm going to live-- or at least try to live- the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure"
-"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think is important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is devote yourself to loving others, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."
-"The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves and you have to be strong enough to say if it doesn't work don't buy it."
-"If you're trying to show off for people at the top, forget it. They will look down at you anyhow. And if you're trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you nowhere. Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone."

-"Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you trust them, too - even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling."

the rear view...

Blame it on spending a good half an hour to 45 minutes in an auto rickshaw, I have become quite observant of the salient features of the rickshaw. And like the autos' interiors, the drivers also comes in all sorts. Many a times , one may have observed the driver adjusting the rear view mirror so the person sitting in the auto is visible. I cant for the life of me understand, how that helps, but it seems to be standard protocol that a lot of drivers follow. Necessity, voyuerism, whatever one may choosee to call it. And if the driver happens to be a lamehead, imagine the entertainment, the bloke will get free of cost in the night if a necking couple get into his vehicle and its a long ride.... :-P. but its overall a very irritating thing!

a comeback..

Just read through some of my previous posts and mannnn I sound deprssed! Its been almost 6 months I wrote something in this blog! I kept on thinking…what should I write now??

So have decided to focus on the good thing that’s happened to me in recent times.....something I am really excited about........this is something I have been trying to do unsuccessfully for the past year......and guess wha! I’VE LOST WEIGHT! Yaayy!!

Oh yes I am one of those unlucky ones who ended up gaining tons of weight as soon as I got married ....(guess it was all because of the tons of happy- eating- junk- food J and I hogged on hehee ;-P)

Was pretty slim and perfect before my wedding...I binged as usual n ended up becoming a fat lazy bum!  I am not that tall....n  after gaining nearly 18++ kgs( which made me around 77++ odd kgs), and since I have a round face(the bane of my life:):) I guess I just looked round:)

Anyways things came to a head when my friends n folks started exclaiming about the weight I had gained.....this led to further eating! I did try a few things like yoga and walking (which failed due to my work) n dieting(which failed cause I like food too much:):)

Finally a few months ago I got my wake up call when I saw a few of my photos taken at a function…I looked terrible!!! N if that wasn’t enough I also realized how lethargic I had become…that’s when I decided that I had to do something about this matter.

So, I started walking more seriously….n think that was the best thing I did. I would go for morning walks n every evening my friend  S and I would go for a walk for 45 minutes to 1 hour . I made it a point to take the stairs wherever I went. Instead of giving up on food I just reduced the quantity of food I ate n made it a point to have my dinner by 8…..fast forward to 3 months later n I was already feeling lighter n everyone had started to notice a difference:):)

Right now, I have pretty much lost much  weight I had gained (though not toooo much) . It’s a different matter my face is still as round as ever…lol, but that cant be helped unless I visit a plastic surgeon, (which according to me is the worst decision anyone could ever make:)

Its been a few months since I went on my morning walk now…but the weight loss hasn’t stopped :):) maybe its ‘cause I eat healthy nowadays (if you discount the few kfc’s and McD’s I feel good! And  am pretty proud of myself!
Give yourself a pat on the back!!!

just hang them.....

The horror of Nirbhaya has given way to the horror of Gudiya. Iron rods, bottles, candles…the absolutely barbaric brutality and savagery…it literally wakes me up at night. I cringe at the awful thoughts that pass through my head, and the most horrifying scenes( bloody my imagination).

A blind rage engulfs me when I think of every girl today and the kind of world she is slowly emerging into from the cocoon of protection. A world where anything can happen and nothing will deter it.
According to an article in yahoo....there was chaos in parliament over the incident. which said...“Though parliament has recently passed tougher legislation to prevent rapes, the evil has not abated and such incidents are still on the rise throughout the country,” House Speaker Meira Kumar said before the house was adjourned"

Legislation to prevent rapes? OK, I agree, there are many ancient and irrelevant laws that definitely need to be redrafted, but how on earth will passing more and more laws make the “evil abate”? The need of the hour is to actually implement these laws, to actually execute them in the right spirit. That is what we are sorely lacking. If a cop gives hush-money to the family of a rape victim instead of accepting the complaint, will more laws really help?

What we really, really need is for cops to be is someone for whom the law is truly above anyone, rich or poor.

new years to all....in advance...

Does anyone other than me miss all the wonderful n’ creative greeting cards that we used to receive before the invent of ecards and other ways of greeting??? With all the progress in technology, emails n' ecards seem to have taken over handwritten letters n' cards.

I used to love collecting all the cards that my family would receive over the course of a year n' am sure if anyone checks my room back home, I still have a few b'day n’ new year cards stored away in the back of my cupboard. I even kept them on display in my bedroom when I was at my parents place!

It was always a pleasure to open an envelope to see that someone out there was thinking of u and had taken the time out to send u a handwritten message in a wonderful little card.!!

(if any of my friends n family are by any chance reading this blog…hope u got the hint:):) heee heee!!;) wink wink )

Now...what about new year resolutions?? I dont really believe in making resolutions but here are few plans i have.

1. Lose weight, get fit.
2. Be more optimistic, stop worrying about what could have been..the past is the past!!!
3. Take time to glass paint, bake ,read etc...
4. Travel more! Visit as many places as possible.
5. Read more books, blog more often:)
6. Believe in myself!
7. Work towards the dream I've always had for myself! Be the successful person I want to be!!!
8. Remember to appreciate what I have more often:)

9. Grow my faith in God as each day passes..

another epic date..

1/1/1  2/2/2  3/3/3  4/4/4  5/5/5  6/6/6  7/7/7  8/8/8  9/9/9  10/10/10  11/11/11  12/12/12

So here ends the great date saga! 12/12/12. With this we wont be able to witness such dates anymore. Many have been lucky to be born on these dates. This has been a special millenium for all we special people.
Kudos to life..

follow your weight...

I am perpetually trying to lose weight and when i read this article somewhere on the internet ,i found it really hilarious.

RULES FOR DIET:

1. If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.

2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are canceled out by the diet soda.

3. When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you do not eat more than they do.

4. Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER counts, such as hot chocolate, brandy, toast and Sara Lee Cheesecake.

5. If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

6. Movie related foods do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel. Examples: Milk Duds, Buttered Popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots & Tootsie Rolls.

7. Cookie pieces contain no calories. The process of breaking causes calorie leakage.

8. Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something.

9. Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories.
Examples are: Spinach & Pistachio Ice Cream; Mushrooms & Mashed Potatoes.

10. Chocolate is a universal color and may be substituted for any other food color.

11. Anything consumed while standing has no calories. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.

12. Anything consumed from someone else's plate has no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to his/her plate. (We all know how calories like to cling!!)
