This is one topic wherein i've heard people getting into heated arguments.
In reference to the old testament in the Bible..in GENISIS 1:26 it says "Then God said...and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." It mentions a whole lot of stuff referring to animals and humans having the divine right to dominate over each other.
If you eat meat then...morally you are just following your religion...nothing wrong with that...as a matter a fact its wrong not to follow your religion if you believe in it.
Many a times, its ones choice. If a person who follows religion, and the religion says not to have meat, then morally you should follow your religion. Thats your choice. Thats your ethical view. But just because of your views, its not correct to burden it on a person who prefers having meat and does not follow religion.
What i feel right in my opinion is ....Millions of years ago when we were still ape men or before fully evolving into Man..we were herbivores..but think about how the world would be if everyone would be a vegetarian ..it takes a lot of veggies to fill a single person up..imagine the whole world eating veggies all day..plus the other herbivores that existed..I believe that we exploited our resources long ago and as in order to survive had to enter the omnivore cycle...This works because we would not be able to stop eating meat today because of exploiting resources once again.
All this is because religiously/scientifically there should be a balance in nature. Man dominates our planet earth. In order to compensate the balance between all living things including man himself, animals and all the greens we see around us, we are all supposed to contribute. But at the end of the day it definately depends on us! Thats ones choice!

The amount of conversations we have had on this...god! I wud keep bugging u and Anu! Whenever i read something like this I am reminded of my talks with her..how much I used to tell her..and she wud eat something non veg and wud come n tell me! Haahaha!
